Kool Deadwood Nites to feature Sha Na Na, The Platters
By LCJ staff
The annual Kool Deadwood Nites gathering of classic car owners is scheduled for Aug. 26-29.
The event, which features approximately 600 classic automobile events over a four-day period in Deadwood, also showcases free Main Street concerts for the public.
This year the musical groups Sha Na Na and The Platters will headline concerts on Friday, Aug. 27, and Saturday, Aug. 28, respectively. The Rat Pack Reunion singers will also perform on Saturday.
Sha Na Na has been entertaining audiences with rock ‘n’ roll nostalgia dance tunes for four decades and their Deadwood concert date promises to deliver a list of favorites.
The Platters were pop music icons in the late 1950s with a string of major hit songs including “The Great Pretender,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “Only You” and “Twilight Time.”
The Rat Pack Reunion features sound-alike singers in a tribute to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Dean Martin, who croon classic songs from their predecessors’ hey day in the 1960s.
